The WAMXC Plan
- January. Happy New Year. January is the start of our ski racing season and the Birkie Tour.
- February is a ski racing month with the Mora Vasaloppet and the Birkie. Stay Healthy.
- March is the time to enjoy skiing but also a time for recovery. Rest, maybe do a short race or bike some. Our hikes start in April.
- April hiking starts with very social hikes. We hike without ski poles and do urban hikes about 2 hours in duration. Hikes start at 9am. As we get longer days and longer hikes, the starting time will be earlier. We are biking.
- May. We hike for about 2 hours, go harder and add poles. Hikes start at 8:30am
- June. Increase the duration to 2.5 hours, add bounding and some intensity to our hikes. Hikes start at 8:30am
- July. We are up to 3 hour hikes so plan on adding sweat and insect repellant. We will begin some easy rollerskiing. This is the month to remember to buy a MN ski pass. Hikes start at 8 am.
- August, pull back on duration and add intensity. Hikes about 2 hours 45 minutes. Our roller skiing will be a bit more strenuous. Hikes start at 8am.
- September hikes are about 2 1/2 hours. Our 4-day bike ride, Bicycling Around River Falls is early September. Hikes start at 8:30am.
- October workouts are 2+ hour hikes starting at 8:30am.
- November workouts: 2+ hour hikes starting at 8:30am.
Thanksgiving falls on Thursday this year.
- December workouts: 2+ hour hikes if no snow and no mandmade snow.
Mix hiking/intervals with skiing.
